This miniature may have once marked a prayer for the Virgin in a book of hours, perhaps either the prayer 'O Intemerata' (O immaculate [virgin]) or 'Obsecro te' (I beseech you), two prayers commonly found in books of hours. This leaf is from the same manuscript as Lewis E M 10:2.
