Six full-page miniatures on the versos of inserted singletons; human figures in borders around miniatures.1-line and 2-line red and blue initials. 3-line red and blue initials with elaborate purple and red penwork, with green accents. Pen flourishing in the style of the so-called Mask Group.

15th or early 16th century Flemish panel-stamped brown calf over boards, blind; central panel containing birds, thistle (?), dog (?), three flowers and a stag; bordered by inscription reading "o mater dei memento mei."

The ms produced ca. 1450-65 in the northern Netherlands, with the miniatures added slightly later by Antonis Rogiersz. uten Broec formerly known as the Master of the Boston City of God; he had worked in Brabant, as well as in the Utrecht area.
provenance
Collection of Michael Linel (1830-1892) and Albert Linel (1833-1916). Acquired by the city of Frankfurt for the Kunstgewerbemuseum by purchase in 1892 & by bequest, 1916. Ms. LM 8 of this museum until deaccessioned in 1953. Purchased for Spencer, 1954.
