<detail conceptID="2-1">Mediators of the North</detail>
<detail conceptID="2-3">Mediators of the North aims to map the mediators of the North and their relationships in time and space from the Middle Ages to the present. Mediators are considered to be all cultural actors who contribute to producing and mediating representations of the North, i.e. human actors such as authors, translators, teachers, cultural managers, directors, journal editors, etc. as well as institutions such as editorial offices, universities, state institutions, schools, publishers, associations, clubs, theatres, museums, libraries or media such as books, journals, publication series, websites, etc.

They are seen as anchored in space (places, regions, nations, supra-regions, continents...) and in time (days, months, years, decades, centuries...).

Finally, the North includes all those regions that are understood by the mediators to be part of the Northern Hemisphere: Scandinavia, the Arctic, Siberia, Canada, etc.
The Project is piloted by Thomas Mohnike, Université de Strasbourg.</detail>
