The GLOBALVAT project is linked to the ARCHIVESPIE12 structuring program. It proposes the exploitation of an exceptional material for history and social sciences - the Vatican archives of the pontificate of Pius XII opened in 2020 - by considering it as a resource for the global history of the twentieth century. Beyond the Second World War and ecclesiastical issues alone, this unpublished documentation makes it possible to renew the understanding of various objects and spaces that this project analyzes around a central problem: how does the Catholic Church engage to rebuild the world destroyed by war, by investing different areas, from international relations to the intimate? To answer this, the project works according to three perspectives, in a multiscalar approach – the international system, the regulation of companies, the human person – and integrates a transversal axis of data development.
