Description: This site presents the data collected in the framework of the project “AmateurS - Amateurs in Science (France, 1850-1950): A History from Below” (ANR-18-CE27-0027). This database is equally intended for scholars, for students and for the broader public wishing to discover more about the history of amateurism in France in the contemporary period. The database contains bibliographical references selected because of the use of the term “amateur(s)” in their title, in the title of their editorial collection, or as a qualifier of their authors. For each publication, be they monographs or periodicals, have been listed all the contributors (author, publication director, illustrator, editor, managing director, etc.). In addition, information has been provided on the paratexts (foreword, preface, introduction) of the monographs, and the introductory articles or overviews published in the inaugural issues of the periodicals.
